Senior Systems Specialist – Red Hat / Linux Auckland | Hybrid (2 days in office)

We are seeking a Senior Systems Specialist (Red Hat / Linux) to support enterprise-scale, mission‑critical payments platforms within a large and complex environment. This is a high‑priority role focused on production Red Hat Linux systems, supporting server builds, upgrades, and ongoing platform reliability across Test and Production environments. You’ll join a senior systems team responsible for the stability, performance, and evolution of critical payments infrastructure. The role requires strong hands‑on capability, confidence operating in production, and the ability to troubleshoot independently in high‑availability environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Red Hat Linux server builds, upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management
• Support of critical payments platforms across Test and Production
• Platform expansion and contribution to modernisation initiatives
• Production troubleshooting and root cause analysis
• Adherence to change, incident, and operational processes

Required Experience

• Strong hands‑on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (L3-level) experience in production
• Proven background supporting large-scale or mission‑critical environments
• Experience with server builds, upgrades, and enterprise Linux support
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to work autonomously
• Comfortable working in high‑availability environments (on-call exposure possible)
• NZ permanent work rights required

Technical Exposure

• Linux internals, service management, and performance tuning
• User and permission management (ACLs, sudo)
• Networking fundamentals (DNS, routing, firewall basics)
• Storage, filesystems, backup and recovery
• TLS and certificate lifecycle management
• Automation using Bash and/or Ansible
• Production support processes (change, incident, problem)
