About the Role
This role sits within a growing security capability and is suited to someone with recent, hands-on experience in security operations or engineering. You will play a key role in protecting cloud environments, improving detection and response, and embedding practical security controls across systems and processes.
You will also contribute to strengthening security maturity by working closely with delivery teams and ensuring risks are clearly understood and managed.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Monitor, investigate and respond to security alerts and incidents
  • Configure and optimise Microsoft Sentinel and Defender security tools
  • Strengthen identity protection using Azure AD capabilities
  • Support email security and SIEM management practices
  • Collaborate with IT, Dev and Ops teams to embed security best practice
  • Document incidents, findings and remediation actions clearly

Skills & Experience

  • 2 to 3 years of recent experience in a security-focused role such as Security Engineer or SOC Analyst
  • Strong capability across Azure security tools including Sentinel, Defender and Identity Protection
  • Practical experience with SIEM platforms and email security controls
  • Confidence explaining technical risks in simple, clear terms to varied audiences
  • Ability to prioritise security outcomes and stand firm when risks are high
  • Self-driven, organised and comfortable managing multiple priorities

Nice to Have

  • Understanding of security across the software development lifecycle
  • Experience with network security technologies such as Fortinet or Palo Alto
  • Familiarity with frameworks such as NZISM or NIST
