About the Role
As a Lead Software Developer, you will focus on securing and improving large, mission‑critical applications, with a strong emphasis on strengthening legacy codebases and embedding secure development practices. This Auckland‑based role offers a hybrid working model, split evenly between home and office. You will lead from the front, mentoring developers, influencing architecture and design decisions, and working closely with stakeholders in a hands‑on technical leadership role.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and day‑to‑day guidance to a team of developers
  • Improve the security posture of legacy and modern applications by identifying and remediating vulnerabilities
  • Apply secure coding best practices across Angular front‑end and C# back‑end systems
  • Contribute to architecture and design decisions with a strong focus on security, scalability, and maintainability
  • Write clean, testable, and maintainable code with appropriate automated tests
  • Participate in and lead code reviews, ensuring quality and security standards are met
  • Leverage AI coding tools to improve development efficiency and code quality
  • Collaborate closely with clients and internal stakeholders, translating technical risk into clear, actionable advice
  • Take part in Scrum ceremonies and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Stay current with evolving security threats, tools, frameworks, and development practices

 
Skills & Experience

• 8+ years of commercial software development experience across front‑ and back‑end technologies
  • Proven experience leading development teams in a consultancy or client‑facing environment
  • Strong background working on large, legacy‑heavy codebases
  • Deep understanding of secure software development practices and vulnerability mitigation
  • Hands‑on experience building JSON‑based RESTful APIs using C# and .NET Core
  • Experience with Azure services including Azure Functions and API Management
  • Strong SQL Server experience for application data storage
  • Advanced experience with Angular, TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS
  • Proven experience integrating SPA front ends with RESTful APIs
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines such as Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, particularly build and test automation
  • Experience using AI development tools
• Excellent communication skills, able to confidently engage both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
  • Strong time management skills and ability to operate in fast‑paced delivery environments

 
Nice to Have

• Experience with front‑end testing frameworks such as Jasmine, Karma, or Cypress
