Aurora Energy

Aurora Energy is one of New Zealand’s largest electricity distribution networks, providing essential power infrastructure across some of the country’s fastest-growing communities and most varied landscapes in Te Waipounamu, the South Island. They own, operate, and maintain the network that delivers safe, reliable, and sustainable electricity to more than 200,000 residents throughout Ōtepoti Dunedin, Central Otago/Wānaka, and Tāhuna Queenstown. Their purpose is to enable the energy future of the communities they serve.

The Opportunity

As Product Owner for our Maximo and Sentient platforms, you’ll play a pivotal role in  shaping the future of two critical enterprise systems, driving continuous improvement and ensuring they deliver meaningful value across the organisation. This is a unique opportunity to influence the future direction of both our Enterprise Asset Management and Project Management environments, ensuring they remain aligned with business priorities while supporting growth, performance and continuous improvement.

At the heart of this role is the ability to connect strategy with delivery. You’ll work closely with operational teams, project managers, leaders, technology specialists and software vendors to understand business needs, identify opportunities and translate those opportunities into meaningful system enhancements. You’ll help define what comes next, ensuring investment in both platforms delivers measurable benefits for the organisation and the people who rely on these systems every day.

As the owner of both products, you’ll be responsible for evaluating enhancement opportunities, guiding system improvements and ensuring changes are thoroughly understood, tested and successfully implemented. Whether the initiative involves improving asset management processes, enhancing project visibility, increasing automation or driving better data quality, you’ll play a central role in ensuring the solution achieves its intended outcomes.
You’ll spend time engaging with stakeholders to understand challenges and opportunities, analysing business processes, facilitating conversations across teams and ensuring decisions are informed by both operational needs and strategic objectives.

About You

You will have experience working as a Product Owner, Functional Lead, Senior Business Analyst or Enterprise Systems professional within a Utilities, Manufacturing, Infrastructure or similarly complex operational environment. You will have worked with Maximo and either Sentient or other project management or portfolio management platforms and understand the critical role these systems play in supporting organisational performance.

What You’ll Bring

  • Demonstrated experience managing enterprise systems specifically Maximo and leading business-driven enhancements from concept through to implementation
  • Comfort in owning and prioritising a product backlog, defining business requirements, facilitating workshops and working collaboratively with technical teams, vendors and stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes
  • Strong analytical capability and an ability to understand complex business processes, assess impacts across multiple teams and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, usability and data quality
  • Experience overseeing testing activities, supporting user acceptance testing and ensuring release readiness will be highly valued
  • Alongside your technical and business expertise, you’ll bring excellent communication skills, sound judgement and the ability to influence and build confidence across diverse stakeholder groups
  • Above all, you’ll bring ownership, curiosity, resilience and a continuous improvement mindset. You’ll be someone who combines strategic thinking with a practical, hands-on approach and who is passionate about helping people, projects, assets and systems perform at their very best
