Senior Software Engineer – Java

About the Role

Our client are a forward thinking SaaS organisation looking for a Senior Software Engineer with strong Java and Spring Boot experience to join their dynamic team in Petone. This is a high-impact role where you’ll help develop a scalable microservices environment within a growing organisation.

Responsibilities

• Build scalable microservices with Java and Spring Boot
• Develop RESTful APIs and event-driven architecture components
• Collaborate on cloud/container deployment (Docker/Kubernetes)
• Work across Postgres and NoSQL databases
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and testing practices
• Support high-performance, modern engineering practices

Skills & Experience

• Strong Java skills (concurrency, collections, design patterns)
• Extensive experience with Spring Boot (Data, Security, JPA/Hibernate)
• Proven background with microservices and cloud environments (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
• Skilled in API development (RESTful services)
• Familiarity with Postgres and NoSQL databases (e.g., Cassandra, OpenSearch)
