Lead Developer

About the Role

Our public sector client is seeking a Lead Developer to build on senior‑level capability with added technical leadership. You’ll oversee a small team (around 3–4 developers) with an emphasis on technical direction rather than people management. You’ll remain hands‑on while ensuring delivery aligns with architecture standards and the enterprise roadmap.

Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities

• Lead technical design and uphold code quality across a small squad
• Plan and balance workload; track progress and remove blockers
• Align solutions to architecture standards and the enterprise roadmap
• Stay hands‑on across complex problem solving, coding, and reviews
• Drive DevOps, CI/CD, and automation to improve reliability and flow
• Partner with engineering, architecture, and delivery to achieve cohesive outcomes

Skills & Experience

• 8+ years’ software development with advanced depth across JEE, SQL, React/JS frameworks, Cloud/DevOps, and API development
• Proven technical leadership setting standards and guiding solution design
• Experience delivering mission‑critical, public‑facing systems
• Strong stakeholder engagement and influence across cross‑functional teams
• Passion for coaching, best practice, and continuous improvement
