About the Organisation

Our client is a local consultancy partnering with an internationally renowned proprietary trading firm operating across global markets (equities, futures, commodities). They blend a tight‑knit, high‑calibre engineering culture with fast, evidence‑driven delivery. Expect a collaborative, meritocratic environment that values technical excellence, impact, and continuous improvement.

About the Role

As a Quant Developer, you’ll architect and build the platform that enables researchers to develop and deploy trading signals. You’ll design ultra‑low‑latency, highly available services in C++, support operational Python workflows, and build data pipelines, storage and visualisation tooling. Working closely with quantitative researchers, you’ll own performance, reliability and observability end‑to‑end in a high‑frequency trading environment.

Day to Day Responsibilities

  • Build and optimise C++ low‑latency components with consistent sub‑millisecond performance.
  • Develop and maintain Python services for operational workflows, tooling and automation.
  • Design and evolve data pipelines, storage schemas and visualisation components for researchers.
  • Collaborate with Quant Researchers to enable rapid signal iteration and robust deployment.
  • Own CI/CD, build pipelines, testing, and production reliability for critical trading systems.

Benefits

  • Wellington-based role with contribution to relcoation costs.
  • Annual bonus linked to individual and team performance.
  • Five weeks’ annual leave.
  • Tackle big, complex problems with real performance impact.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Expert level C++ with a demonstrated history of sub‑millisecond, low‑latency systems.
  • Proficient Python for operational tooling, automation and data workflows.
  • Experience building data pipelines, storage architectures and visualisation tooling.
  • Strong CI/CD and build pipeline management; solid Git and code‑review practices.
  • Experience in HFT/market microstructure desirable; observability tools (Elastic/Grafana) a plus.
