About the Organisation
Our client is a community-focused public sector agency currently delivering a programme of work to modernise and refresh its customer-facing digital services. With a strong focus on secure, scalable, and user-centric solutions, they are seeking a talented Tech Lead to play a critical role in shaping the future of their digital services.
About the Role
As a Tech Lead, you’ll lead the design and direction of technology platforms across a modern ReactJS/NextJS frontend and NodeJS/.NET backend stack with AWS on the cloud front. You’ll set and uphold software development standards, guide strategic technology decisions, and mentor developers to continuously uplift quality across the board.
The ideal candidate will be a current Tech Lead, Lead Developer or Senior Developer already contributing at a lead level. You’ll need to bring strong collaboration skills, and will encourage open dialogue, challenge ideas constructively, and work closely with stakeholders, developers, architects, and delivery teams to ensure outcomes are robust, pragmatic, and user-focused.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Guide software design and strategic direction across full-stack development (ReactJS, NodeJS, .NET, AWS)
- Lead the development of new customer-facing services as part of a large-scale digital modernisation initiative
- Collaborate with architects and fellow leads to ensure security, performance, and maintainability
- Mentor and support developers, ensuring consistent coding standards and continuous improvement
- Help define and refine developer workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and development tooling
Skills and Experience Required
- Strong full-stack experience with ReactJS, NodeJS, .NET, and AWS Cloud
- Familiarity with Next.js is a bonus
- Experience leading or contributing at a lead level in a collaborative dev team
- A balanced leadership style: confident without ego, open to others’ ideas, and focused on team success
- Comfortable influencing technical direction while remaining deeply hands-on
- Familiarity with CI/CD tooling, secure coding practices, and cloud-native design
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
