About the Role
The Head of Architecture, Applications & Development based fulltime on-site in Hamilton will lead the teams responsible for managing the corporate applications, data integrations, software development, and architecture services that enable teaching, research, and business operations. The role oversees day-to-day service monitoring, optimisation, and incident management, while also coordinating the technical delivery of projects and developing long-term application roadmaps aligned with the digital strategy and budgets. It provides leadership to architects, developers, and analysts, ensuring team capability, performance, and engagement, while fostering collaboration across ITS and with business stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes and customer experiences. In addition, the role manages procurement, supplier contracts, cloud consumption, and licensing costs, while contributing to governance forums and supporting prioritisation, resource planning, and decision-making for the wider digital programme of work.
Skills & Experience
- Senior ICT Leadership – Over 5–7 years’ proven experience in senior ICT management, leading digital teams in large, complex organisations.
- People & Team Management – Strong leadership in managing technical teams, fostering collaboration, and driving performance.
- Strategic Delivery – Track record of contributing to major projects and delivering measurable business benefits.
- Commercial & Financial Acumen – Skilled in financial management, procurement, budget oversight, and supplier contract management.
- Stakeholder & Communication Skills – Excellent communication, relationship-building, and the ability to influence and manage expectations, including having difficult conversations when required.
- Industry Knowledge & Customer Focus – Strong customer orientation with awareness of digital trends and their impact on business and tertiary education sectors.
