Senior Data Consultant

About the Role
As a Senior Data Consultant, you will lead the design, delivery, and implementation of modern data and AI solutions for customers across Aotearoa. You’ll combine strong technical expertise with consulting skills to understand client challenges, develop strategic recommendations, and deliver solutions that drive meaningful outcomes.
You will work closely with customers, delivery teams, and strategic partners to ensure successful project outcomes while contributing to business growth and capability development.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and deploy high-quality data and AI solutions that meet customer requirements, delivery timelines, and quality standards.
• Lead complex customer engagements, taking ownership of project outcomes and ensuring exceptional delivery.
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with customers, stakeholders, and delivery partners.
• Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to align technical delivery with business objectives.
• Identify opportunities to extend customer value through innovative Data & AI solutions and strategic advisory.
• Drive a customer-first mindset, demonstrating initiative, innovation, and accountability.
• Mentor and support team members through knowledge sharing and technical leadership.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of delivery methodologies, frameworks, and best practices.
• Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and leading practices within the Data & AI ecosystem.

About You
You are a seasoned consultant with strong technical capability, excellent stakeholder management skills, and a passion for helping organisations succeed through data.
Technical Experience

• Proven experience designing and implementing modern data platforms, architectures, and data models.
• Strong ELT/ETL development expertise, including extracting, transforming, and integrating data from multiple sources.
• Hands-on experience with cloud technologies, including:
  • Microsoft Azure
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Snowflake
• Experience working with enterprise database platforms such as:
  • Oracle
  • Teradata
  • SQL Server
• Strong proficiency with data engineering and analytics tools including:
  • Azure Data Factory
  • Python
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • dbt
  • Databricks
  • Power BI
  • Tableau

Consulting & Leadership Experience

• Demonstrated ability to gather business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience facilitating workshops, building consensus, and driving successful project outcomes.
• Significant experience in consulting, professional services, or customer-facing environments.
• Proven ability to manage senior stakeholder relationships and navigate complex organisational environments.
• Experience mentoring team members and contributing to capability development. 

Eligibility To be considered for this role, you must:

• Be currently residing in New Zealand.
• Hold New Zealand citizenship, permanent residency, or a valid work visa with a minimum of 18 months remaining.
