ABOUT THE ROLE
The Governance & Platform Enablement Lead – Artificial Intelligence role is responsible for defining, embedding and operationalising AI governance frameworks, standards and ways of working that enable the company to adopt AI safely, consistently and effectively. The position provides governance across the full AI ecosystem including Generative AI, machine learning models, automated decision systems, embedded AI capabilities, vendor AI solutions and experimental use cases. Working closely with business leaders, platform owners and delivery teams, you will establish governance guardrails, risk controls, monitoring and assurance processes while enabling innovation and adoption. The role is hands-on with Microsoft AI technologies, Microsoft Purview and the Microsoft Copilot ecosystem, translating governance standards into practical platform configurations that support trusted, secure and compliant AI use. This is a minimum three days per week on-site position.
Key responsibilities include defining AI governance frameworks, configuring governance controls within AI platforms, establishing operating models and ownership structures, coaching stakeholders, monitoring compliance and risk metrics, and ensuring AI-enabled solutions remain secure, transparent, discoverable and aligned to organisational standards.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 5 years experience in AI, data, content or technology governance, including governance of AI-enabled products, models or platforms.
- Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Data, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning or a related discipline.
- Experience implementing and managing governance frameworks, controls, risk assessments and assurance processes.
- Hands-on knowledge of Microsoft AI products and services, Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Copilot and broader AI/ML platforms.
- Strong understanding of AI lifecycle management, compliance, privacy, security, transparency and human oversight principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex AI and governance concepts for diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders, coach teams and build trusted relationships across technical and non-technical environments.
