You’ll join a collaborative team working on high‑priority initiatives that have real impact across the public sector.

About the Role

This contract position runs through to 30 June 2026 and focuses on ministerial priority work around data governance and information sharing. You’ll act as a connector—building relationships, running workshops, and engaging stakeholders to drive big‑picture governance outcomes. While you won’t be writing detailed data quality standards, you’ll work alongside data analysts and a data architect who handle the technical detail. The role requires two days per week on‑site in Wellington (3 days WFH).

Day to Day Responsibilities

• Lead engagement with stakeholders to shape and deliver data governance initiatives
• Facilitate workshops and build strong relationships across the organisation and sector
• Support development of frameworks, policies, and processes for information sharing
• Collaborate with analysts and architects to ensure alignment with governance objectives
• Promote data literacy and responsible use of information across the organisation

Skills & Experience Required

• Strong facilitation and relationship‑building skills across diverse stakeholders
• Experience in governance, policy, or large‑scale organisational change
• Ability to plan and deliver work within a programme or project structure
• Understanding of data governance or information management principles (advantageous)
• Excellent communication and ability to translate complex ideas into clear outcomes
