Senior Java Developer

About the Role

Our public sector client are currently undertaking a key project to modernise and align their technology platforms. With a mix of Java, .NET, and Angular systems in play, they are seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Developer in an initial 6 mo. contract to take ownership of backend development and integration work, ensuring the new services work seamlessly with existing platforms.

You’ll be the sole developer on the project, working closely with a Project Manager and collaborating directly with an external vendor. Your focus will be building and integrating Java 21 services with existing .NET, C#, and Angular-based systems — no frontend framework work required, but clean, reliable integration is essential. You’ll also be responsible for designing and deploying scalable solutions in AWS, while helping bridge the gap between the organisation’s Java and .NET platforms.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Build and integrate Java 21 services with existing .NET and Angular-based systems
• Design, develop, and deploy scalable backend solutions in AWS
• Work closely with the Project Manager and external vendor on architecture and integration decisions
• Ensure seamless alignment between Java and .NET platforms

Skills and Experience Required

• Proven expertise as a Senior Java Developer, with experience in modern Java (Java 21)
• Strong AWS skills, including deployment and solution design
• Confident working directly with vendors and contributing to technical decision-making
• Experience integrating Java solutions with mixed tech stacks (.NET, Angular, etc.)
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
