About the Role
The Tech Lead role combines hands-on technical work with team leadership, splitting time roughly 50/50. You’ll solve complex challenges while guiding a cross-functional squad to deliver end-to-end value.
As a mentor and leader, you’ll ensure high-quality software aligns with the product roadmap and technical strategy. Collaborating closely with Product Managers, Architects, and Leadership, you’ll build engaged, effective teams focused on balancing technical excellence, team satisfaction, and delivery outcomes.
Leading by example, your expertise in engineering, architecture, or quality assurance will empower and inspire your squad.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Lead and support engineering teams, fostering an inclusive and collaborative culture.
- Address conflicts promptly and maintain a safe work environment.
- Mentor team members to develop skills and achieve their potential.
- Empower squads through coaching rather than centralized control.
- Attract, recruit, and retain top talent aligned with company values.
- Set and monitor performance goals and development plans.
- Deliver high-quality, scalable, and secure code through hands-on leadership.
- Create and maintain technical documentation and architecture.
- Write and review automated tests and ensure robust code quality
- Drive technical discussions and continuously improve development practices.
- Inspire accountability and ownership within engineering squads.
- Communicate and align product and technical vision across teams.
- Champion process improvements to maximize delivery efficiency.
- Align team efforts with broader organisational strategies.
- Set realistic delivery expectations and support roadmap execution.
- Define and evolve engineering standards and best practices.
- Prioritize pragmatic solutions and technical debt management.
- Measure technical impact on business objectives and optimize workflows.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and adapt plans as needed.
- Build trust and rapport with teams and stakeholders through transparency.
- Foster squad autonomy with clear guidance and minimal escalation.
- Continuously improve leadership through feedback and self-reflection.
What You’ll Bring:
- 7+ years of experience as a Software Engineer.
- Proven track record as a technical influencer and team collaborator.
- Experience in evolving engineering culture and processes for greater agility and engagement.
- Solid understanding of cloud technologies and principles.
- Previous experience working in SaaS environments.
- Strong systems and software design capabilities.
- Familiarity with modern frontend technologies like React.
- Experience with backend technologies such as GoLang, TypeScript, .NET, Ruby, or Java.
- Hands-on experience working in Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
