The Role:
The System Administrator based in Tauranga plays a vital role in supporting and maintaining the organisation’s IT infrastructure across multiple sites in New Zealand. Reporting to the IT Manager, the role focuses on providing day-to-day technical support, monitoring systems, and assisting in projects aimed at improving performance, security, and continuity. Key responsibilities include managing Microsoft technologies (Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and Azure), supporting device management through Microsoft Intune, and assisting with backup and recovery using Veeam. The role involves basic networking tasks, hardware setup and troubleshooting (primarily HP and Lenovo devices), Windows system administration, and PowerShell scripting. The System Administrator also supports both on-premises and cloud systems, contributes to IT projects, and works collaboratively with team members to ensure reliable, efficient IT service delivery across the organisation.
Skills & Experience Required
- Education & Experience: Holds a degree or diploma in Information Technology or a related field, with 1–5 years of experience in IT or desktop support roles, including familiarity with Citrix environments and previous experience as an IT Technician.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Office 365, Windows 10/11, and Windows Server (2012–2022), with beneficial knowledge of PowerShell scripting, Citrix, and D365 FinOps; understands modern IT architecture and trends.
- Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Demonstrates excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills, strong decision-making under pressure, and a proactive, creative approach to solving technical challenges.
- Communication & Collaboration: Possesses outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support users at all levels and collaborate effectively within a team environment.
- Project Delivery & Time Management: Experienced in project delivery and change management, with sound time management, the ability to prioritise under tight deadlines, and a focus on quality and service lifecycle success.
- Flexibility & Willingness to Learn: Shows initiative and a commitment to continuous learning, with a full driver’s license and readiness to travel to various company sites across Auckland, Palmerston North, Christchurch, and Timaru as needed.
