Our client is a State-Owned Enterprise who are responsible for providing up-to-date information through digital products to enable New Zealanders to make informed decisions in their daily activities. This includes general updates, critical warnings and advisories, as well as bespoke reports vital to the safe ongoing operations of New Zealand industries and organisations.
 

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Security Specialist to advance our organisation’s security awareness and IT infrastructure protection. This role requires delivering expert advice, developing and implementing robust security strategies, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations. As part of our dedicated technology team, you’ll engage in IT infrastructure support, bringing in-depth hands on knowledge to maintain and secure our environments.
 

DUTIES

  • Provide technical leadership in securing IT systems and infrastructure, focusing on Cloud, Linux, and Microsoft environments.
  • Develop and implement a security roadmap, enhancing our security maturity.
  • Lead security solution implementations to ensure new applications, infrastructure and cloud environments are secure.
  • Assist in the detection, response, and remediation of security incidents
  • Mentor and guide staff on deploying security updates and incident response.
  • Assess security risks and enforce policies, ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Lead best practice security standards to technical staff and teams across the organisation.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Strong working knowledge of Windows 10+ and Office365 administration.
  • In-depth knowledge of IP protocols and web hosting configuration components.
  • Experience administering and securing Linux systems,
  • Strong knowledge of IP protocols. e.g. SMTP, RADIUS, DNS, FTP, HTTP, HTTPS, SNMP, DMARC, passkeys and PKI architectures.
  • Proven experience and knowledge of web hosting configuration components, including firewalls, load balancers, web and database servers.
  • CISSP certification required.
  • Experience in Azure or AWS administration (certifications highly desirable).
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and prioritisation skills. Generalist IT knowledge is a plus.
