About the Role

This is an initial 3-month contract opportunity for a Senior Data Engineer, with the potential for extension based on project requirements and performance.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will design, build and optimise modern data platforms that solve real-world business problems. Working within a highly skilled cloud and engineering practice, you will partner with clients to understand their data challenges and deliver scalable, cloud-native solutions that support analytics, reporting and business intelligence initiatives.

This role offers the opportunity to work across multiple projects, engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders while helping organisations modernise their data ecosystems through best-practice engineering, automation and governance frameworks.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Design and develop scalable data pipelines, integrations and platforms using cloud-native technologies
  • Build and optimise data lakes, data warehouses and analytics environments to support enterprise workloads
  • Implement DataOps practices including CI/CD, automated testing, version control and deployment automation
  • Facilitate workshops and collaborate with clients to gather requirements and translate business needs into practical technical solutions
  • Monitor, troubleshoot and enhance platform performance, reliability, security and cost efficiency
  • Contribute to solution design, project delivery, technical documentation and continuous improvement initiatives

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience designing and delivering cloud-based data solutions within Azure, AWS or GCP environments
  • Strong capability building and supporting data pipelines, integrations and ETL processes using tools such as Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Fabric 
  • Deep understanding of modern data architectures, including data lakes, lakehouses, data warehouses and governed data products
  • Experience working with structured, semi-structured and unstructured data for analytical and reporting use cases
  • Strong knowledge of API integrations, orchestration frameworks, cloud security and data governance practices
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related discipline
  • Cloud certifications across Microsoft, AWS or Google Cloud highly regarded
  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience delivering data engineering solutions in cloud environments
