ABOUT THE ROLE

This Senior Network Systems Engineer role based on-site in Tauranga is crucial in ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction by leading project management and service delivery practices. The position requires a network authority, spanning on-premise and cloud ecosystems, to provide technical expertise, design and implement solutions, and advise clients on technology selection. This role will also contribute to the internal product ecosystem and documentation standards. Key responsibilities include installing and maintaining operating systems, troubleshooting network faults, acting as a vendor interface for support, implementing new solutions, monitoring system performance, performing capacity analysis, creating and updating technical documentation, and accurately logging all activities. Some travel may be required.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Education & Certifications: Holds a relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., Computer Science or Computer Engineering) with multiple industry-recognized certifications, including A+, MCSE, CCIE, Citrix, and vendor-specific qualifications (e.g., Cisco, Fortinet, HP). Also familiar with methodologies like ITIL, TOGAF, and Kepner-Tregoe. Possesses a valid driver’s licence.
• Experience: Over 10 years of experience in the IT industry, with proven involvement in large-scale infrastructure projects and complex IT environments. Demonstrated success in network design, solution implementation, and infrastructure upgrades.
• Technical Expertise: Proficient across networking (LAN/WAN/Wireless), vitalisation (e.g., VMware), cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Office 365), and storage technologies (SAN, NAS, DAS). Strong understanding of Microsoft technologies including Active Directory, Exchange, SQL, DNS, DHCP, and SCCM/SCOM.
• Systems & Tools: Experienced in application delivery (RDS, Citrix XenDesktop), Windows deployment and patching, data protection, backup and recovery, and scripting (e.g., PowerShell). Knowledge of SharePoint and Skype for Business is advantageous.
• Analytical & Documentation Skills: Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to clearly articulate solutions. Produces high-standard technical documentation and delivers timely, high-quality project outcomes.
• Business Understanding & Communication: Demonstrates the ability to quickly understand business processes, systems, and objectives. Communicates effectively with stakeholders and aligns IT solutions with business needs.
